ClassGraphic Children participating will learn basic sewing and quilting skills, culminating in the creation of a lap quilt.

Class 1: Students will learn basic sewing skills including sewing a quarter inch straight seam, proper pressing of fabrics, and assembly of a rail fence block
Class 2: students will learn to create a half square triangle and will use this technique to create a churn dash block and a friendship star
Class 3: Students will learn to make flying geese and will assemble them into a Dutchman's puzzle block.
Class 4: Students will complete all blocks and will learn to add sashing and a border, resulting in a quilt top.

At the completion of this course, the students will:
-demonstrate ability to sew a consistent quarter inch seam
-demonstrate ability to follow a pattern to create a variety of quilt blocks
-demonstrate safe and appropriate use of various quilting tools
-demonstrate ability to add sashing and borders to completed blocks to make a quilt
